This results in a whole slew of 2-meg email messages being sent to our root email readers. Surely someone out there has/knows of a script that reads tar output and looks for errors? I could easily enough write one to mail just the last 20 lines or so of tar's output, but I'm not absolutely certain that would catch all possible error conditions.
