Found out some new stuff: KWrite starts up quickly, but Kate does not. So I guess Kate creates temporary files. Could the problem be related to my /tmp partition? Should I try to turn SoftUpdates off, or reformat the partition? Is it possible that this is a filesystem bug? Daniela
