This happens EVERY logon that uses PPP. Can you try the latest ppp from http://www.freebsd.org/~brian ? There was a problem in the 2.2.5 release where ppp shut itself down in a rather bad (read: incorrect) way. Alternatively, the line "set stopped 5" in your default section may solve the problem.
