For a FreeBSD.org originated site, see <http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ports.html>. If you have an internet connection on your FreeBSD box, you can let "make" download the distribution. If you don't, download the .tar.gz file yourself, and put it in the /usr/ports/distfiles directory, before you do "make install", in the ports subdirectory of your package.
