I believe it. I practice it. When stating that I practice it, I've
been told "Nah, go ahead and track ports - just make sure you install
the latest upgrade kit!" (see <URL: http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports/ >
for kits for versions as old as 2.2.1!). It does say that only -stable 
& -current are supported.

What happens to people who upgrade to 3.3-RELEASE over the internet,
and then try and install mergemaster from ports? Do they get a copy of 
the ports tree as it existed for 3.3, and thus mergemaster? Or are
they stuck? If the latter - that ought to be fixed!
