No, it's just laziness.  kris sent me some patches long ago, but I
didn't get round to looking at them.  As long as they don't change the
functionality, I don't have an issue with them.

Can somebody remind me why this is?  There can't be more than a couple
of lines involved in the original import of libreadline.
