At times, I've used cu(1) and tip(1) within screen(1) windows exactly
for this sort of thing.  In my .screenrc I have the following:

	bind 'h' hardcopy

Then every time I hit `C-a h' within a screen window, an image of the
screen is written to hardcopy.N files in my home directory, where N is
an increasing number.
