One of the Japanese had a scheme whereby you could add almost all the
drivers that could be loaded as modules to the second floppy of the
i386 boot set (since we already were at two floppies there) to reduce
pressure on the kern disk filling up.  If this scheme could prove to
be expandible, I think it might be a good way of reducing the need to
deorbit support for some of these cards in the alpha world.  But a
third floppy, with all the "obscure" drivers on it might make things
easy for most people, while making them possible for the fringe.

I have concerns about the alpha platform, and if it is easy to remove
barriers to entry, we should do that.  I regret not having enough time
to properly support it myself :-(.
