You will notice this is a problem with the fonts. Just say "No" to
building fonts, and it ought to be okay.

Even when it asks you to build fonts, it says you should only build them
once. You will have fonts from earlier versions of XFree86.

I've encountered the same problem, and am rebuilding without the
fonts... watch me be wrong.
