Ah, yes of course. boot0cfg only installs the boot0 loader at the beginning of the disk. You should partition the disk with fdisk and label it with disklabel too. There is an article on FreeBSD.org describing exactly this sort of thing. It's called "Formatting Media For Use With FreeBSD".
