I have to say that I am depressed seeing the string "8259" in 2014. That chip was a hack in its time, which was a long time ago. (For those kids in the audience: IIRC it was designed to be part of a chipset supporting the Intel 8085 CPU). The fact that designs still carry around little shards of this is ... miserable.
