vgetty promises all this, but when it comes down to it, you need to code a
system to go behind it, and the modems work as you'd expect - as standard
modems (admittedly in voice mode). The restrictions that this would produce
are obvious.

However, I do have it acting as an answering machine here at home, on a
machine which is permanently on. Never skips a beat.
