Perhaps buy your I am not an accountant, but iff you itemize your tax returns, donating to a non-profit organization does have tax benefits. However, most people do not itemize, since it is not worth doing so unless you have over $500 of donations and other qualifying expenses (such as un-reimbursed business expenses).
