[please cc: me in any replies as I am not currently subbed to this list.
  Thank you.]

Over the weekend, I built and installed OpenOffice 1.0.2. My main
reason for wanting it was so that I could open all of the MS docs people
insist on sending me and actually read them. However, whenever I try to
open any MS doc (so far I've tried Word, Excel and Powerpoint docs), I
always receive the same "unrecoverable error" message and then the
program dumps core and shuts down.

I wanted to simply install the package, but a 'pkg_add -r openoffice'
informed me that there was no such package available on the server.

More info:

I'm currently running: 5.0-RELEASE-p1 FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE-p1 #0: Thu Feb
13 16:44:41 PST 2003

The output I could glean from gdb:

This GDB was configured as
"i386-undermydesk-freebsd"..."/usr/home/scott/OpenOffice.org1.0.2/program/soffice":
not in executable format: File format not recognized

Core was generated by `soffice.bin'.
Program terminated with signal 6, Aborted.
