I found /usr/ports/devel/pear-PHPUnit2/work/PHPUnit2-2.1.2/pear-phpunit, saved it as ~/bin/phpunit, changed the first line from #!@php_bin@ to #!/usr/local/bin/php and chmodded it to 555. This got me the command line program. So in the meantime, if anyone needs it, use these instructions. To the maintainers, maybe work similar routines to make it available via the port. Thanks
