Dear all, could You please check the configuration of Your SMP kernels which showed this problem or did not show this problem. Please check if the options PREEMPTION and/or ADAPTIVE_GIANT are activated or not. I had both of these options set, and have now turned them off (because on RELEASE-5.5 without these options the 2.3.1 had already built before), and currently the build has run quite beyond the place where it hung twice before... rgds, PMc
