FWIW, I'm having the very same problem with my Xircom card - I don't
recall the model of it unfortunately, but it was also giving "device not
configured" when I inserted it. The thing is it worked fine with 4.3, and
still does, but 4.4 without a change to the kernel config doesn't work at
all. I haven't had time to investigate the problem further unfortunately.

Did anyone upgrading from 4.3 to 4.4 have trouble with the xe driver?
