I was able to go through the install once successfully, but now I am getting the same thing on re-booting from the SCSI disk. Sometimes it does boot successfully! Normal kernel boot/config stuff - from the SCSI disk, no problem...then Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle ahc0:A:6 no active SCB for reconnecting target - issuing BUS DEVICE RESET SAVED_TCL == 0x60, ARG_1 == 0xff, SEQ_FLAGS = 0x0 (probe0:ahc0:0:6:1): SCB 0x8 - timed out in datain phase. This is an old 486DX250, VLB motherboard, 40mb ram, Adaptec 2842 SCSI controller, no IDE controller, 3COM 3C509 Ethernet. SCSI IDs, 2 = Plextor CD-ROM, 6 = QUANTUM PD1800S (1.8 gig drive), 7 = host adapter. This system was running windows NT successfully before I trashed the disk, DOS boots ok from floppy and has no problems accessing the SCSI devices. I have low level formatted the drive and ran a bad block and surface scan - no problems. This system has successfully run Linux in the past. I am investigating FreeBSD/Apache server for an e-commerce site. So far Linux looks easier to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
