However, I have never needed to run XFree86 -configure. I run xf86config, then take a quick glance at the resulting /etc/X11/XF86Config file, and if that looks good, I run startx to test. I have never configured a Rage Fury Pro, though XFree 4.0.3 works for my GeForce II and my ATI AIW Pro.
