I cut and pasted the above and stuck it in my cron tab (well, okay, I changed the time so it would run right away and got this: I think we would have had lots of users complaining about /etc/weekly, /etc/daily and such that are run from /etc/crontab if this was a problem in any of the releases. Since we have not had this I will point my finger at something on your system, either a non-standard or old cron, or perhaps a symlink in /var/cron/tabs/root -> /etc/crontab or some such strange ness. >From daemon Tue May 2 20:02:00 1995 Received: (from root@localhost) by gndrsh.aac.dev.com (8.6.11/8.6.9) id UAA03626 for root; Tue, 2 May 1995 20:02:00 -0700 Date: Tue, 2 May 1995 20:02:00 -0700 Message-Id: <199505030302.UAA03626@gndrsh.aac.dev.com> From: root (Cron Daemon) To: root Subject: Cron /bin/ls X-Cron-Env: X-Cron-Env: X-Cron-Env: X-Cron-Env: X-Cron-Env: Status: OR lastlog lpd-errs maillog maillog.0 maillog.1 maillog.2 messages messages.0 messages.1 messages.2 sendmail.st setuid.today wtmp -- Rod Grimes rgrimes@gndrsh.aac.dev.com Accurate Automation Company Custom computers for FreeBSD
