Thanks for many comments on my case.
I finally figured out what the problem was last night.
I made a very stupid mistake in /etc/ttys on the laptop,
by turning on getty on ttyd0. That is,

  	laptop                      desktop

getty <-- ttyd0   <------------>  ttyd1 --> getty

That's why I got "Device busy" messages. What a shame!
