OK, I'm in uncharted territory (at least, for me).

Ordinarily I simply pull whatever the latest source tree off of my latest CD
and build the world whenever the mood strikes me. Lately I've been
fascinated with the capabilities of 'cvsup` and figured, "What the heck, I'll
give it a shot."

I started with an empty /usr/src. I tweaked the CVSUP files to pull
-stable into my tree. Hours later (14.4 - ugh) I had a spanking new source
tree under /usr. Plenty of disk to spare (~700Mb).

As root, (cd /usr/src ; make world). Poom! No success. Didn't know how to
make cleandir. OK, 'make -DNOCLEANDIR world`. It doesn't like a *lot* of
things in ctype.h.

I could fiddle for days, but I'll cut to the chase; How does one build a
-stable release after cvsup'ing the appropriate bits?

(I started with the 960501 SNAP, for what that's worth.)

Thanks!
