It should probe somewhere in there.

No, I'm quite sure ahc is in GENERIC.

Have you tried disabling the devices that you don't have in UserConfig
(boot: -c)?  

Have you given the device an IRQ, if you need to assign it manually? (some
older BIOSes do this)
