 That's a very interesting response, but I am suspicious that it is 
 purely a hardware problem.  These two disks have worked together using 
 the on-board controller (PIIX4 UDMA33) with no issues, so the only 
 change was installing the TX2 controller.
 
 Might this be an issue with SMP kernels?
