Good morning everyone, I just installed linux realplayer8 on my new machine at school. (Pent. Xeon with dual 1.5 G processor). I have also installed linux netscape47 communicator. While listening to streaming audio, realplayer will come out and play for approximately 1/2 minute. (actually 36.9sec to be exact) The audio was streaming in at 44.1kbps. After playing for 36.9sec, it indicates they are buffering and then the realplayer window will disappear. I notice that some other people have the same problem while searching the mailing list archives and someone suggest doing a df while the system is running to see what's happening. One indicates that 'the problem was because realplayer created a file in /tmp to store the entire stream. /tmp filled up.' I did df while real audio is running and all I saw was Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/da0s1a 99183 43677 47572 48% / /dev/da0s1f 15074275 1519112 12349221 11% /usr /dev/da0s1e 19815 4711 13519 26% /var procfs 4 4 0 100% /proc and it didn't change the entire time realplayer was running. I did went to the /tmp directory and notice the creation of this file -rw------- 1 acheng wheel 206 Nov 8 05:29 MO3BEA5E980050FAB.ram I then proceed to do ps and saw the following: 4067 p6 S 0:00.73 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4068 p6 S 0:00.00 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4069 p6 S 0:00.00 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4070 p6 S 0:00.00 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4071 p6 S 0:00.04 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4072 p6 S 0:00.01 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram 4073 p6 S 0:00.00 /usr/local/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay /tmp/MO3BEA5F740070FAB.ram So I guess I am having the same problem. No solution was posted as far as I can tell. Does anyone know how to fix it? Many thanks in advance.
