Everything I've tried results in "status: no carrier". I don't know why. I have tried two different wireless cards in two different boxes and both have the same problem. To keep things simple, the WAP configuration is: Mode: Mixed (as opposed to "G Only") SSID Broadcast: Enabled SSID: linksys Channel: 10 WEP: Disabled The WAP is operating in "Access Point" mode as opposed to "Wireless Bridge" mode and is not filtering by MAC address. On my laptop, I have this: # ifconfig wi0 inet 192.168.0.34 netmask 255.255.255.0 ssid test # ifconfig wi0 wi0: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet 192.168.0.34 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255 inet6 fe80::202:2dff:fe0e:5204%wi0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x6 ether 00:02:2d:0e:23:12 media: IEEE 802.11 Wireless Ethernet autoselect (DS/2Mbps) status: no carrier ssid test 1:test stationname "FreeBSD WaveLAN/IEEE node" channel 10 authmode OPEN powersavemode OFF powersavesleep 100 wepmode OFF weptxkey 1 FWIW, the above is a laptop running FreeBSD 4.8-PRERELEASE dated Feb 24 2003.
