Hi,

Sorry to ask what I think may be a foolish question but I have been fussing
with this for a couple of weeks.

I installed FreeBSD 4.4 on i386 machine and I cannot get the standard C
library unix commands to operate. In particular, I need gethostbyname and
gethostbyaddr for PVM (parallel virtual machine) to function in FreeBSD. I
think I have not figured out how to implement these libc dependent functions.
I get the message: "gethostbyname: command not found". Similarly for
gethostbyaddr, gethostent etc.

A quick reply to get me back on track would be much appreciated. Thank you.
