(Nik, ignore the first one -- forgot to CC: the lists.)

 * From: Nik Clayton <nik@freebsd.org>

Nik, the biggest issue is "why did you do it this way"? There are
three things that are/have to be done: translations to be synced,
conversion of format, and the directory change. By linking the second
and third together, you are interfering with the first. And by
careful planning and judicious use of tags and freezes, we could have
made the whole process much easier.

Now the Japanese team is stuck with two sets of FAQs (English and
Japanese), which were not synced properly, and are in different
formats.  You see the problem?

 *
 * I have done. Both on the list (it was a while ago, I admit) and privately
 * to the various committers that will be doing the work over the past couple
 * of months.

This sentence doesn't make sense. Is it past tense, or are you
talking about the future?

 * Originally, the message was only going to go to those committers -- then I
 * thought it might be handy to have it stuck in the -doc mailing list archive
 * in case anyone ever wanted to refer back to it in the future. I know that
 * some of the Linux Documentation Project people are watching our conversion
 * effort with some interest, hoping to avoid any mistakes we make, and to get
 * a feel for how easy it is.
 *
 * You're right in that my message probably reads a little oddly to regular
 * -doc readers who I haven't been chatting to over the past few months.
 * Sorry about that -- the decision to send it to -doc as well was a little
 * spur of the moment.

Which Japanese committer have you talked to? Names please. The
Japanese doc list is buzzing like a beehive right now because
people there is upset by you suddenly bringing this up.

Satoshi
