I am using a cheap old system to practice so i can ask questions with this computer that works, but i have to switch my cable modem line/ network connection back and forth. PROBLEM I always unplug the power and cable from the modem then plug into the new system, replug and reboot. This gets my connection back for this system, but i can't get free bsd to use the modem after the initial install. I t doesn't match the original domain and host names and can't find a gateway. The modem does play its tune though. Any ideas. I am trying to set up the new kernel info and the xwindow system next so any tips on that would also be appreciated.
