Okay, then you want NAT (network address translation).  Easy, assuming the
machine that is connected to the cable modem is the FreeBSD box.  Simply 
set up ipfw and natd as described on their respective man pages.  Natd
will translate any outgoing packets on your fakenet to the real network,
and vice versa.
