Well fsck_ufs is not in freebsd 4.8

What to do?

Was it created under 4.x with UFS 1 and you are not using 5.x? If so,
try
fsck_ufs instead. Well, that's the same error message I got in that
situation.

Also if you are using 5.x you should try gvinum. (geom aware vinum)
