I saw that Toshiba did have 12.1" LCDs in both SVGA and XVGA with 1024x768.
In the May 96 Computer Shopper, Notebooks section, you'll find reference
to it.  They also mention "and other vendors", but don't go so far as to
say who (or is it whom?).

I've also seen reference to the 1024x768 notebook displays in recent "PC Week"
kind of publications.  Don't know if they've actually hit the market yet, though.
