I can save you some time. That won't work. :) You have to upgrade to 2.2.8-Stable first, then upgrade to 3.2-Release, then upgrade to 3.4-Release. You can find instructions at http://freebsd.simplenet.com/make-upgrade.html. I am planning to update that file for 3.4 -> 4.0 asap BTW.
