This seems to a reintroduction of bug 259174.

The problem seems to be linked to:
security.bsd.see_other_uids=3D0
security.bsd.see_other_gids=3D0

The log shows:
sftp-server[83292]: fatal: unable to make the process untraceable: No such
process
