 I was planning to have a simpler patch and force the user to set the 
 WITH_MYSQL_VER in their /etc/make.conf if they want an alternate mysql 
 client installed.  If they have one installed already, it uses that 
 version anyway.  There are already way too many choices in the config 
 menu.  I'll follow-up with a simplified version of this patch shortly.
