ARGHHH !

I am trying to install openssh. I did something to it.

I go to :  /usr/ports/security/openssh
I type :    make install
I get this:
===>Building for OpenSSH -2.2.0-2
===>lib
warning object directory not changed from orginal
/usr/ports/security/openssh/work/ssh/lib
===>ssh
warning object direcotry not changed from orginal
/usr/ports/security/openssh/work/ssh/ssh
etc
etc
etc
building shared librabry pam.ssh.so
/usr/libexec/elf/ld: cannot find -lgcc_pic
***error code 1
stop in /usr/ports/security/openssh/work/ssh/pam_ssh.

I have tried searching for lgcc_pic and reading the developer links but they were either no help or over my newbie brain.
any help is greatly appreciated.
