It's nice to see you still in the BSD business ;) We looked into this problem thoroughly with Anton Berezin and it seems there is no connection with Samba3 port itself. That phantom dependencies come from print/cups-base port, as far as I can see. We tried to fix the problem with Anton by swapping the order of bsd.port.pre.mk and inclussion of common part, but as I don't have access to tinderbox, it's hard to see in my enviroment, that dependencies really get installed. So, something to check deeper... .include "${.CURDIR}/../../print/cups/Makefile.common" .include .include "${FILESDIR}/manpages.mk" .include So, I'd recommed to look into the cups-base port first of all.
