Damned right.  I was totally confused the last time that I looked at it.

Are there any other programs in the tree which should be changed to fall
into line?  I can't think of any off hand, but there may be some.

Also, what precedent do various ports set?  I'm sure that xmcd has it's
own list of variables that it uses...
