Tell exactly library version is a better solution than none with just PORTREVISION. without library version: ================================== 1) User doesn't update dependenies as in his practice. 2) CVSup 3) Install new libraries and apps. 4) User have the problems in runtime, we end up have to chase to tell him where the problem is. Possible more than just a dependency. He never see the problem, because of PORTREVISION never tell you that need to updated dependencies. ================================== with library version: ================================== 1) User doesn't update dependenies as in his practice. 2) CVSup 3) Install new libraries and apps. 4) Oops, the new libraries and apps tell him that they need the newer dependencies by can't find library error and old is already exist. Already tell what's wrong early. No chase and no messy. ================================== Yes, I do know about the new feature (ability to depend on versioned installed package) in bsd.port.mk, but it's an experimental feature and new.
