Like I said, 3.3.6 works, but X 4 doesn't...

Yeah, all I did was load the module.  From /boot/loader.conf...

   snd_via82c686_load="YES"

And that's it.  I'm running -STABLE (last built two days ago).  The
sound has worked since I had the laptop (about two months now).
