You have to change the pc bios setup to boot from the cd drive instead of from the hard drive. The pc will then boot from the 6.0 cd and install 6.0 destroying the 5.2 system on the hard drive along with any user data you had. After 6.0 is installed you have to change the bios back to booting from the hard drive. Be sure you have a backup of any user data on the 5.2 system you want saved. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@freebsd.org]On Behalf Of ehrhard.herbst@sz-online.de Sent: Saturday, March 11, 2006 5:44 PM To: questions@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem Installing FreeBSD 6.0, asking for help Hello, may I ask you for help with the following Problem: When I try to install FreeBsd6.0, there is the following error during the boot process (because the system is not able to boot from CD, I have to boot from floppy) occurs: ahc0: probe1:ahc0:0:1:0: SCB 6: immediate reset Flags 0x620 ahc0: probe1:ahc0:0:1:0: No longer in timeout, status=25b ahc0: Issued channel A bus reset, SCBs 6 aborted. ... ... ... There are variants of the messages with different SCB, flags and status. As a result, the install program does not find any disk. FreeBSD5.2 is running and dmesg produces the following output: Copyright (c) 1992-2004 The FreeBSD Project.
