Subject:   Enabling softupdates remotely?

Is there any way to enable softupdates remotely? Since tunefs -n can't 
be run on a mounted filesystem, and you can't unmount /usr, /var, or / 
in multi-user mode, can this be done, or does one have to be at a 
terminal to do it?
