I made a fresh installation, not an upgrading. I now have the following problem: When I run Tex or LaTeX or any application related to TeX it takes a long time to start, and then keeps doing something and can be seen monitoring it with top. However if I start the same application as root everything goes fine, no delay no CPU usage. The computer is an HP xw6000 with two CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.06GHz and real memory = 1073676288 (1023 MB) Thank for any hint. Andrea Crisanti --
