Welcome to UNIX.  The shots you saw were of XFree86, a X-Windows system
that provides a GUI.  You would need to install and configure it.  Run
/stand/sysinstall and do a post-install configuration and install XFree86.
Refer to the handbook at www.freebsd.org and the info at www.xfree86.org
as well for more information on installation and configuration.
