Without fix one cannot easily build a program to receive the FreeBSD daily mails and summarize them. I do not think extracting real host name from received headers is an option here, it is complicated and error-prone. As FreeBSD is far too vocal, this is important with large environments. Ever tried reading 400 daily mails for couple of months, all of which say "everything fine" ? 1) I cannot see any point in using short names anywhere, as they are fundamentally ambiguous. Again, this is a problem in large environments as there often are non-flat name spaces.
