disregard my former message.. of course just after i send that message
and planned to give up i saw it was my own mistake of writing
CPPFLAGS=$CFLAGS instead of CPPFLAGS=${CFLAGS} in make.conf.... sorry
to have bothered you with my stupidity :(

Hi,

i'm trying to compile the graphics/libungif port version 4.1.0b1 on
5.1-RELEASE, latests ports via cvsup. The configure script failes as
follows:

Checking whether the C++ compiler (c++ FLAGS) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler
cannot create executables

notice the FLAGS in that sentence... somehow the configure script
doesn't resolve the CXXFLAGS or CPPFLAGS variable set in make.conf.
If i run configure by hand from work/libungif.../ it works just fine.. I
couldn't figure out what was wrong with the configure script, so i hope
you can find it...

i attached configure.log... for any questions, don't hesitate to contact
me
