Hello Frederick, Steve et al,

Well, I hope this topic wasn't too hard on too many inboxes. :)  I
appreciate the varied and detailed responses, I certainly got the
answers I was looking for and then some, especially from those whose
jobs are similar to mine.  While I have a bit more research to do to
be absolutely comfortable with what I spend my time on, seems like my
son's advice to freeBSD was solid.  Thanks, all.
