Various things.  Don't worry about it too much, although you might want to
mark the ports you settle on as modem ports in /etc/rc.serial.

That's stupid 8).  Why do you have gettys on both the dialin and
dialout ports?

mgetty sucks (IMHO).  Avoid it unless you're doing something special.
You want to run a normal getty on the dialin (ttyD) port _only_.

You will also want to make sure your modems are configured correctly.
In particular, you want DCD-follows-carrier, no echo, no result codes.
Something like

at&c0e0q1&w

will work for most Rockwell-based modems (note that c0/c1 varies,
check your modem manual for the right sense for yours.)
