I also had problems with the mouse. Setting

	Option "Protocol"    "Auto"

in the "InputDevice" section solved it. Also, could not use the

	XFree86 -configure

method to configure X. Had to resort to /usr/X11R6/bin/xf86config which
produced a proper conf file - I merged old settings by hand.
