I'm running -current and i have similar problrms with vx driver. On startup it refuses to work, and i need to do ifconfig vx0 up/down few times untill it starts functioning... my dmesg says: vx0 <3Com 3c590 EtherLink III PCI> rev 0 int a irq 9 on pci0:11 utp[*UTP*] address 00:20:af:f7:f2:dd vx0: eeprom failed to come ready. I also tried some other 3c590 card, but then dmesg sayd something like: "Warning! Defective early revision adapter!" and results were exactly the same.
